Our History
John J. Doody & Son Inc., Better known as Doody Home Centers, Opened its doors in 1925 on Jerome Avenue in the Sheepshead Bay Area of Brooklyn, New York.
This Location is now a branch of the U.S. Post Office. Several years later, we moved to our current location on the Avenue Y & East 17th. Street.
Doody’s originally began as a center for building material supply, primarily selling brick, block, sand, cement, and a host of other building materials. During the Great Depression, Doody’s secured the contract to supply all of the building materials for the now famous Lundy Bros. Restaurant on Emmons Ave. This contract helped the business survive throughout those very difficult times.
Over the years, Doody's Home Centers has always adapted with the times by adding to our inventory and selections. As Doody’s approaches its 9th decade in business, we still continue to adjust and improve our unique selection of products to keep up and improve your home or living space. We hope you stop by our stores and see firsthand why Doody’s has withstood the test of time. Our many dedicated and attentive staff members are always available to assist you.
